Father-Daughter “Double” on 10-Day Coyote Hunt

Allegheny National Forest Visitors BureauBRADFORD, PA – September 5, 2017 – Charlotte Double, pre-teen daughter of Chris Double, and Chris “doubled” down on two coyotes registered Saturday, 9/2, at the Rolfe Beagle Club’s 10-Day Fall Coyote and Crow Hunt. Charlotte’s 17# female coyote was her first coyote harvest ever and she grinned from ear to ear. “I shot it from the front of the chest,” she proudly exclaimed. “I could only see the head and the top part of the body moving across the field, but I got it!” Charlotte shot her coyote Saturday morning at 5:15 a.m. with a .243 rifle near Highland Corners.

Chris Double, Charlotte’s father, shot his 34# male coyote from the Big Maple Natural Therapies Farm near Montmorenci at 11:30 p.m. Friday evening with a .243 rifle. Chris and Charlotte mark the first father-daughter duo to claim harvested coyotes in the three years of the Rolfe Beagle Club’s Fall Coyote and Crow Hunt.

Terry Murphy, a PA resident from down state, but with a camp in McKean County, shot a large 39# male coyote near his camp at Lantz’s Corners at 10:30 p.m. Friday evening. Terry used a 6mm rifle.

This year’s hunt for coyotes and crows runs from August 30th thru noon of Saturday, September 9. This Third Annual Statewide Fall Coyote and Crow Hunt is chaired by Chris Double of Double Drop Tine Outfitters.
