Allegany County is nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains in New York State, with mystic ponds, colorful rolling hills and expansive views with four season recreation.
 
Their relaxed, unhurried way of life offers a wide variety of seasonal activities that appeal to all visitors. In spring participate in maple syrup events, and the famous Trout Derby. Summer offers countless festivals, fairs, a hot air balloon rally and biking, canoeing, swimming, and birding for outdoor enthusiast. Take a trip to the ATV Park, grab a kayak and float down the Genesee River or just take a hike on one of many acres of State Forests.

In winter get your skis ready for Swain Ski Resort and glide down 30 professionally groomed trails carved out of the Allegany landscape or take the family tubing at Gunny’s Gorge right next to Swain Ski Resort. Allegany County offers many miles of cross-country trails in the State Forest lands and has over 400 miles of maintained snowmobile trails.  If you prefer to stay indoors the charming towns and villages offer a wide range of cultural actives, shopping, dining and antiquing in many of their historic downtowns.
