America 250 Liberty Tree Planting

September 28 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

You are invited to gather at the TAMED Trailhead in Kane, PA, as we honor a piece of American history. During the American Revolutionary War, the Sons of Liberty would meet under the original Liberty Tree in Boston to discuss their resistance against British rule. This tree became a powerful symbol of hope and freedom for the colonists.

Although the British eventually destroyed Boston’s Liberty Tree, the spirit of the movement spread, leading to the designation of Liberty Trees throughout the 13 colonies. The last known original Liberty Tree stood at Saint John’s University in Maryland until it was lost to Hurricane Floyd in 1999.

Today, the legacy lives on as seeds from a scion of the original Liberty Tree are being nurtured and planted across the Commonwealth. We invite you to be a part of this meaningful tradition and join us in celebrating our shared history.
