Join the Pennsylvania Game Commission's North Central Educator to enhance your next hike in the Pennsylvania Wilds. You will learn to identify signs left behind by some of Pennsylvania's most common animals. At the end of the program, make your own plaster cast of an animal track and take it home (while supplies last.)

Planning on making some New Year's resolutions? Consider starting your "New Year" off with a healthy walk along the General Kane Hiking Trail. The "First Day Hike" is an approximately 1.5 mile, easy to moderate, walk in the woods. During the hike, look for signs of wildlife in the area.

This trail is in the "open to hunting" area, so participants are asked to wear orange hats and vests. Wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather.

Meet at the Trailhead in the overflow parking area. Coffee and hot chocolate will be provided after the walk in the Visitor Center Classroom.

Stop by the Kinzua Bridge State Park Visitor Center from 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning to learn a little about our winter feeder birds. What are the common birds at our feeder? What kind of seeds do they like? What type of feeders does the Visitor Center use? Also, a short walk near the feeders. Binoculars are available to use to look at the bird feeder birds on a first come, first served basis.

On display from January 10 - January 24. Described as visual metaphors, almost abstract, slightly surreal, these paintings explore the connection between brokenness and beauty. Brokenness allows, or forces, us to see and feel the benefits of our wild landscapes, our respite in the midst of chaos. These paintings highlight the natural beauty of the northern Alleghenies along with the worn facades of our built townscapes. In addition to studio work, Ryding is an adjunct professor at Pitt-Bradford and directs the local artists’ cooperative ArtWorks on the Summit in Kane, PA.
