Fall Color ATV Trail Riding, Marienville
Come ride the beautiful Allegheny National Forest during the Columbus Day weekend fall color ATV riding trail; on Marienville and Timberline ATV riding trails exclusively. All ATV operators must have valid permit for their machines to ride the trails. Trails will open at 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 and close at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14. Hold on to your hats for a breakneck tour of 500 years of American history in this fast and funny high-energy hour! Your kids will come face to face with Columbus, the Pilgrims, the Salem "witches," George Washington, the Boston Tea Partiers, the framers of the Constitution, the Missouri Compromisers, Levi Strauss and his blue jeans, and the Gettysburg Address -- and that's just in the first 35 minutes! Radio Telemetry
Join Penn State Intern Ryan Polinsky as he introduces us to radio telemetry. Ryan will talk about the different uses for radio telemetry and how it helps collect data. He plans on bringing an elk collar and the different receiver types and antenna types for visuals and he will also be hiding a collar and showing people how they would locate the collar.

The Battle of Leyte Gulf Presentation, Eldred WW II Museum

Steve Appleby will present The Battle of Leyte Gulf: The United States Third Fleet and the United States Seventh Fleet win a decisive naval battle over the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Philippine Islands. Also, the story of Port Allegany’s Seaman Johnson’s service and sacrifice during the battle. Doors open at 6:30 pm, program starts at 7 pm. Free to the public, donations welcome.

Mysteries of the Night at Eshelman in Portville, NY
Join the Pfeiffer Nature Center for a star lit stroll around the Eshelman property as they listen for our night time neighbors and learn about their nocturnal habits and habitats. Following the walk, there will be a spooktacular campfire with s'mores and ghost stories shared by master storyteller Jim Piatt. Please dress for evening temperatures, wear comfortable footwear, bring a flashlight and a camp chair. Deer Season Kick-Off: Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative
The Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative (KQDC) is hosting a Deer Season Kick-Off Event from noon until 4 p.m. in the University Room at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford - which is free of charge. Find info about roads, recent timber harvests, spring pellet counts and more. Doors open at noon with Ben Moyer, Outdoor Writer and Naturalist, speaking at 12:30 p.m. followed by a demonstration of the online hunting map of the Allegheny National Forest at 1:30 p.m. After lunch, Merlin Benner, Wildlife Specialist will host a live demo on how to de-bone a deer in the field.
