Hike 100 Miles to Commemorate 100 Years

Come join us in celebrating 100 years of growth and adventure on the Allegheny National Forest by hiking 100 miles. The Centennial Hiking Challenge will take you to over 100 miles of the best and most beautiful trails we offer. Whether you want to take a peaceful nature walk on a flat, established trail, or trek through a virtually untouched wilderness area far from the noise and congestion of town, these trails all have something unique to offer.

Log the date, trail name and miles hiked. When you complete 100 miles bring your hiking log to the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau or any of the ANF Ranger offices to receive commemorative items, while supplies last. The hiking challenge ends on September 24, 2024.

Furbearers
Elk Country is home to many furbearers in Pennsylvania. Many trappers go out and collect these animals to help maintain healthy populations in our ecosystems. Without them populations can run wild! Come to the Elk Country Visitor Center and learn about the furbearers of PA as well as identifying skulls and furs of local animals.
