Tue 13th Jun to Mon 23rd Sep | Hike 100 Miles to Commemorate 100 Years Come join us in celebrating 100 years of growth and adventure on the Allegheny National Forest by hiking 100 miles. The Centennial Hiking Challenge will take you to over 100 miles of the best and most beautiful trails we offer. Whether you want to take a peaceful nature walk on a flat, established trail, or trek through a virtually untouched wilderness area far from the noise and congestion of town, these trails all have something unique to offer. Log the date, trail name and miles hiked. When you complete 100 miles bring your hiking log to the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau or any of the ANF Ranger offices to receive commemorative items, while supplies last. (McKean, Warren, Elk, & Forest Counties) Find at least 20 cashes and write down the code word to receive and ANF Centennial Souvenir Token. Fri 6th Oct to Mon 9th Oct | ATV Trails Open for Holiday Weekend ATV/OHM trails will remain closed through the fall, with the following exceptions: The Marienville and Timberline trails will be open for a holiday weekend to allow riders an opportunity to enjoy the autumn foliage. Trails will open at 8:00 a.m., on Friday, October 6, and close at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, October 9. The Timberline Trailhead will open Thursday, October 5 to accommodate riders camping for the weekend. Riding the ATV/OHM trails requires a permit. Permits are valid through the end of the calendar year. The 2023 ATV/OHM permit cost, mail-in forms, vendors, and directions for electronic submissions can be found under Recreation Passes and Permits on the forest website.
