Hike 100 Miles to Commemorate 100 Years

Come join us in celebrating 100 years of growth and adventure on the Allegheny National Forest by hiking 100 miles. The Centennial Hiking Challenge will take you to over 100 miles of the best and most beautiful trails we offer. Whether you want to take a peaceful nature walk on a flat, established trail, or trek through a virtually untouched wilderness area far from the noise and congestion of town, these trails all have something unique to offer.

Log the date, trail name and miles hiked. When you complete 100 miles bring your hiking log to the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau or any of the ANF Ranger offices to receive commemorative items, while supplies last. The hiking challenge ends on September 24, 2024.

ANF Centennial GeoTrail
28 ANF Centennial Geocaches will be placed throughout the Allegheny National Forest. (McKean, Warren, Elk, & Forest Counties) Find at least 20 cashes and write down the code word to receive and ANF Centennial Souvenir Token. Passports are free and can be obtained at any ANF office locations or by downloading & printing your own. Tracking available by geocaching.com

This Hunter - Trapper Education Course is a three-day class including a skills day and the test on Saturday. Students must attend all three days to complete the class.  All registrants for this event must be 11 years of age by November 11, 2023. This is a six-hour training class required by law for all first-time hunters and trappers before they can buy a license. You must pass a certification exam at the end of the class to complete this training.

Museum Explorers Activity
Inspired by Vincent van Gogh Art Project

For this activity, you will work to reveal a beautiful illustration inspired by the unmistakable style of Vincent van Gogh (for this session we will create the scene with houses - approximately 8" x 8"). This is a beginner-level art project that includes all of the materials you will need to complete it. Your kit also includes three additional cards to take home and create on your own.

This activity uses a sharp wooden stylus. Recommended for ages 7 and up. Allow approximately 2 hours to complete the project.
