First day Hike, Salamanca, NY

The Allegany State Park (ASP) offers a self-guided history hike centered around ASP 3 in Quaker from 10 AM to 2 PM. Participants can come at their leisure. This is an easy hike for all ages. The 2+ mile hike includes 20+ historical tidbits which participants will see as they make their way up and down ASP 3. Weather permitting, it is encouraged to bring snowshoes, trekking poles, or anything else needed for an enjoyable hike. Appropriate dress and footwear are strongly recommended. Participants are reminded this is an off trail hike. The trail is easy-moderate with some minor inclines and declines and weather depending may be snow covered.

3rd Annual Hike for your Health, Portville
Join the 3rd annual winter’s day hike at Pfeiffer Nature Center. The hike will be moderately strenuous- which, in terms of exercise means you will be able to talk but not sing during the activity. The hike will be canceled if extreme weather conditions occur. Pfeiffer Nature Center is pleased to host nature enthusiast, Tim Baird as he shares his knowledge of the “new” 8th wonder of the world.  This program looks into the geology of the Niagara River region and the formation of the Niagara Gorge and Niagara Falls. Winter in the Lumber Camp, Galeton, PA

Slide down the hills, make a snowman, and then warm-up with some hot drinks in the program room at the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum. Cross-country skis, snowshoes, and ice skates will be provided. Hit the trail at 1 p.m. for a short guided (snowshoe) hike on the museum’s Sustainable Forestry Trail. Equipment and instruction are free.
