Amazing natural beauty, amazing engineering marvel

The Kinzua Bridge State Park celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2013. Containing 329 acres, located on the Allegheny Plateau in McKean County, Pennsylvania the Kinzua Bridge State Park is one of three parks within the Bendigo State Park System operated by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. A distinctive hike from the parking area to the newly opened Kinzua Sky Walk provides views of the Kinzua Gorge from the overlook at the end of the 624 foot sky walk. The Kinzua Sky Walk is built on the historic six towers of the Kinzua Viaduct that remained following a tornado on July 21, 2003. Featuring a partial glass floor, the skywalk is a thrilling stroll on the “Tracks Across the Sky”.

The General Kane Trail, named after Thomas Leiper Kane, is a 1-mile loop hiking trail at the park. It leads people through forested areas that were ravished by the tornado, as well as those that remained unharmed. American chestnut trees are visible along this trail. The trail head is located at 41 45. 420N 078 35. 133W.

Group Programming: School groups, special interest groups and motorcoach groups can schedule group programing with advance reservations. Programs can include: History of the Bridge, Apple Cider Making, Geo-caching, and other topics. To schedule an interpretive program for your group download our form.

Driving directions: Pennsylvania Rt. 6, from Route 219, turn east on Rt. 6, drive through Mt. Jewett, watch for the turn off sign. You will be turning left onto the Kinzua Bridge Scenic Byway, State Route 3011. Drive approximately 8 miles to the park sign, turn left and follow access road into the park.

Please Note – Kinzua Bridge State Park is physically located in Mt. Jewett, Pennsylvania. If the address shows as Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, this is not the park but the regional headquarters for the three-park complex of Bendigo, Elk and Kinzua.

Open daily from 8 am to sunset.
Admission is free to both the park and the skywalk.
